Job Opening: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Alpena Community Credit Union (ACCU) is seeking an experienced visionary executive with strong leadership skills for the position of Chief Financial Officer. This is a key leadership role working closely with the CEO, the Board of Directors as well as the rest of the leadership team in growing the credit union through developing and moving forward the organization’s culture, mission, and strategic plan. The successful candidate needs to have exemplary leadership skills and demonstrate a willingness to embrace the mission & vision statement of the credit union while developing the necessary skills to fill the role of CEO within the next 1-2 years.

Key roles include the following:

  • Provide guidance to the credit union’s operations and strategic direction through excellence in financial reporting, asset liability management (ALM), profitability analysis, etc.
  • Enhance all areas under their leadership and ensure they are operating as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Maximize the credit union’s long term financial well-being through effective management of its investment portfolio.
  • Develop an exceptional service experience to both credit union members as well as team members.
  • Create challenging and highly rewarding work experience for all team members.
  • Ensure that the credit union is compliant with all organizational policies as well as relevant laws and regulations.

Qualifications for this position include the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; graduate degree preferred
  • Three or more years of experience in the field of accounting or finance. Experience in the banking industry a significant plus.
  • Strong understanding of finance, accounting practices/procedures (including GAAP), investments, internal controls, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • The ability to develop team members through training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills.
  • Solid expertise with Excel and at least moderate expertise with other key Microsoft software applications (e.g., Word, etc.).
  • Knowledge of other functions (e.g., IT, Human Resources, Lending, etc.) is a significant plus.

Job Opening: Member Service Representative 

We service a great group of members and are committed to giving back to our community. ACCU is seeking an individual with a positive attitude and outlook. Someone who can maintain confidentiality, has a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and has a high attention to detail.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Handling transactions accurately and efficiently for members by assisting them with their financial transactions. Verifying cash and endorsement of checks. Performing a variety of duties to support daily operations. Make fraud prevention, security, and accuracy a top priority. Actively listen to the members and recommend products/services to help meet their financial goals.
